No-exam life insurance
Which applicants qualify, the way the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify.
Nowadays many carriers provide accelerated underwriting: within set age and amount boundaries, they make decisions based on your application, prescription records, driving history and other information, skipping the paramedical exam entirely. Decisions can arrive within hours in some cases. Every quote on this site will tell you whether that specific product needs an exam, might need one, or doesn't need one at all.
What it changes
No exam does not mean no underwriting. Your statements get verified, and the carrier can challenge a policy issued on false information within the first two years. If its data checks turn up questions, it can still request an exam or blood work; you'll have the option to proceed or not.
Who tends to qualify
People generally under age 60, seeking coverage up to each carrier's accelerated limit, with no serious health issues and no tobacco use for at least a year qualify. Some carriers will substitute recent medical lab results from a doctor visit instead of an exam.
Should an exam be needed, expect a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedic at your home or workplace in the Santa Clarita region, with no charge to you. Healthy applicants often improve their rate class after exam results, making it not necessarily bad news.
