Six Flags Magic Mountain opened on May 29, 1971, as a partnership between the Newhall Land and Farming Company and Sea World Inc. The park began with 500 employees and 33 attractions designed by Arrow Development, with initial admission at $5 for adults and $3.50 for children. It was named after the Magic Mountain peak in the Santa Clarita Valley and operated independently until 1979, when Six Flags acquired it and expanded its operations among their chain of regional parks.

The 209-acre facility in unincorporated Los Angeles County near Valencia is located approximately 35 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. It made roller coaster history in 1976 with the Great American Revolution, the first modern 360-degree looping steel coaster in the world. Today the park operates 17 major roller coasters alongside family rides, water attractions and seasonal events, attracting visitors from across Southern California and beyond.

For families in Santa Clarita with children old enough for theme parks and summer traditions, the park becomes part of the household calendar. That predictability—school years, family milestones, the ages when children can ride—is exactly the planning horizon that a term life policy covers. Knowing the amount that would keep your family steady while kids are growing up is the practical version of securing those traditions.
